A Fresh New Beginning for SWY

Dear Beloved Yogis,

As we eagerly anticipate the start of Term 2 this Monday, April 15th, I am filled with gratitude for your journey with us through all the recent changes at the studio. Your resilience and adaptability have been truly inspiring.

This Term's Focus: Building Foundations

Whether you’re a newcomer or a seasoned yogi, you’ll find value in our refreshed approach to the core principles of our Vinyāsa practice during the first weeks back. Under the guidance of my teachers and a new mentor, we'll dive into foundational poses that cater to all levels. Our classes are tailored with varying intensity—mild, medium, or spicy—to appropriately challenge your strength. As we revisit these basics, our practice will deepen progressively. While improvement is possible at any attendance level, frequent participation will accelerate your growth and mastery, ensuring you reap the full benefits of consistency.

Studio Etiquette and New Practices

To enhance our practice, I am excited to introduce a few changes designed to cultivate a tranquil, reflective space:

  • Embracing Silence: From the moment you enter, our studio will be a sanctuary of stillness. This quietude will support a deeper connection to each moment and to each other.

  • Yoga Consent Chips: Empower your practice with hands-on assists or opt for a comforting warm/cold towel during śavāsana. Adjust your preferences at any time with these consent chips.

  • New Welcome Protocol: I will greet you in our entrance area to ensure a smooth transition to your reserved mat, maintaining the serenity of our practice space. Find out more about our new practices here.

Our Three Simple Practice Rules

  1. Listen to Your Body: Always adapt poses and pace to suit your fluctuating daily energy levels.

  2. Engage at Your Own Pace: Not every pose needs to be completed fully; engaging with 60-70% of the class will still significantly enhance your practice.

  3. Focus and Play: While this practice demands concentration, remember to have fun and be gentle with yourself during the learning process.

A Progressive Journey

Our approach is straightforward yet dynamic:

  • Consistency is Key: A weekly focus on familiar poses builds specific muscle groups and improves technique.

  • Progressive Complexity: Our classes evolve from simple to complex, embracing a philosophy of growth and skillfulness.

  • Individualised Attention: Rest as needed and honour the body you arrive with each day; she is perfect—not broken.

Your Unique Path

As I manage my own physical challenges, I am reminded of the importance of the above practices, daily. Celebrate and honour your unique body and its capabilities. Our differences are our strengths.

Thank you for your trust and commitment as we embrace this new chapter. Your feedback is invaluable, and I look forward to deepening our practice together.

Warmest regards, Sadie 🍂
