The retreat I thought would never happen.
For years, I dreamed of hosting a retreat that felt truly special. A space where we could step away from the noise, immerse in nature, and return home deeply restored. But finding the right location? That was another story.
The options were either wildly expensive—think private islands with hefty price tags—or uninspiring, outdated chalets that didn’t match my vision for luxury and ease. I widened my search—Byron Bay, the hinterland, even Bali and New Zealand. And while there were some beautiful places, nothing felt quite right.
Then, just as I was about to give up, this hidden gem appeared. A breathtaking sanctuary, tucked away just two hours from home. The kind of place you can’t quite believe exists. Luxurious yet intimate. Immersed in nature but with every modern comfort. No flights, no delays, no passport renewals—just an effortless escape, right on our doorstep.
And here’s where it gets even better.
When I reached out, I was connected with Leah—the venue manager. She immediately recognised my name. Years ago, I had visited her yoga studio and spa, and she told me she never forgets a kind face (what a sweetheart!). We reconnected instantly, and she just knew this venue was everything I’d been searching for.
She wasn’t wrong.
I drove up for a visit, and as we toured the property together, I was floored. It was even better than the photos. Serene, elegant, and so thoughtfully designed. Leah, a yoga teacher herself, understood my vision completely. She even offered to guide a sound healing session for us during the retreat—an experience I know will be incredibly special.
And then, just when I thought the stars couldn’t align any more perfectly…
My dear friend Asja, an incredible wholefood chef and events manager, called me out of the blue. I had previously reached out to her for advice on retreats, but after struggling to find the right place, I’d let the dream go.
She rang to tell me she was ready to get back into catering retreats—but only for friends, not commercially. I could hardly believe it. I told her I had just locked in my very first retreat, and without hesitation, she said, “I’m in.”
It was meant to be.
The venue. The people. The experience. Everything came together in the most effortless, serendipitous way.
And now, here we are.
This September, we return for another unforgettable retreat—one that, at one point, I thought would never happen.
