Time to find your mojo? Two weeks to go!
With just two weeks to go until Term 1 begins, I wanted to share something personal that’s been on my mind—and might just resonate with you.
You’ve likely heard me talk about habits lately—starting small, building momentum, and showing up for yourself, even when it feels daunting. I’ve been leaning into this idea a lot recently, and it’s been a game-changer.
I’ve admired Jules Mitchell for years—she’s one of the most brilliant minds in yoga biomechanics. Her book, Yoga Biomechanics: Stretching Redefined, has been sitting on my shelf since it was first published. And for just as long, it’s intimidated me. It’s dense, complex, and (if I’m honest) way over my head.
So, when I recently signed up for her advanced teacher training, I was scared. What if I can’t keep up? What if I’m not ready for this level of expertise?
Then, Jules sent out an email inviting us to join her book club, with the first meeting next week to discuss Chapter 1. That email was the push I needed.
Instead of getting overwhelmed by 35 pages of dense reading, I broke it down: 5 pages a day. Starting Monday, I tackled the first 5 pages. Now that it’s Friday, I’m nearly finished with the chapter—and ready to dive into our first session next week. It’s all about how to start reading research papers, which is fascinating and mind-bending at the same time! 🤯
Why this matters.
We’ve all been there: that moment when the mountain ahead feels too steep. Starting yoga, sticking to a class routine, or even showing up for the first time (to anything!) can feel overwhelming.
But progress doesn’t start with perfect leaps. It starts with small, imperfect steps.
When Term 1 begins on the 28th of January, I’ll be bringing everything I’m learning from this training into our studio. The focus is on biomechanics—how your body moves, where it might need extra support, and how we can tailor your practice to your unique needs.
This is why we teach progressively at SWY. You’re not just dropping into a random class—you’re following a path that’s designed to help you grow and feel stronger, step by step.
If you’ve been thinking about starting (or coming back), let this be your sign. Membership is the best way forward—not just for your budget but for your progress.
And one more thing…
We’re hosting our Reboot Disco on the 25th of January—a night of sharing, movement, and connection.
✨ Pro tip: The Disco is the perfect way to kickstart your Term 1 journey. Meet me and the rest of the gang, explore the studio, and feel inspired before classes officially begin!
If you’ve never been here before, don’t worry—it’s not too late to join in, and you’re absolutely included in this invitation! Several new faces have already RSVP’d, and I promise you’ll feel at home from the moment you arrive.
Ready to start?
You don’t need to have it all figured out to begin. Start with a single class, a single habit, or even a single step toward something that feels right for you.
The lesson? Motivation doesn’t come first. It often comes after you start.
